HOW WE SELECT TUTORS
Every tutor is interviewed before they can teach.
TutorScout is not an open noticeboard. Applicants go through a strict process covering credentials, a subject interview, a teaching demonstration and safeguarding checks. Only those who pass are listed.

Application and credentials
Tutors submit qualifications, teaching experience and the subjects they want to offer. We check that their academic background matches the levels they intend to teach.

Subject interview
A specialist interviewer tests subject knowledge, exam-board familiarity and how clearly they can explain a difficult idea. Vague or over-rehearsed answers do not pass.

Teaching demonstration
Candidates run a short observed lesson. We look for pace, questioning, and whether a student would leave knowing what to practise next — not a lecture.

Identity and safeguarding checks
Identity, qualification documents and individual DBS status are reviewed before a profile can be listed. Parent-managed bookings are part of the same standard.

Listed only if they pass
A tutor appears in search after every stage is complete. Lesson ratings stay on their profile, and we can withdraw someone who no longer meets the standard.
