About Grace
Hello, I’m Grace, and I offer English and French support for students studying the Ontario curriculum. If you have plenty to say but struggle to get it onto the page, we can begin by talking. In English, we might explore a character’s decision, pick out evidence from a passage or work out what you want a paragraph to say. I’ll help you shape and revise your ideas while keeping the writing in your own voice. For French, there’s space to practise a sentence aloud, make a mistake and try again. We can focus on vocabulary, grammar, reading or conversation, depending on what you’re learning at school. You don’t have to arrive with everything prepared. A piece of classwork and a little willingness to have a go are a good place to start.
Tutoring experience
I’ve worked with Ontario students on English assignments, French classwork and the confidence to share an idea out loud. Some have needed a regular space to practise; others have wanted support with a particular piece of writing or a presentation that felt a little daunting. My postgraduate study in French gave me plenty of experience thinking carefully about language, but tutoring has taught me just as much about listening. I’ve supported students who could explain their interpretation beautifully in conversation and then found the blank page difficult. I’ve also helped learners return to French after a break in regular practice. Seeing someone become more willing to try a sentence is a part of the work I really enjoy.
Teaching approach
You can choose one small thing to listen or look for when you review your own work. We keep that focus manageable, so checking a paragraph or practising a sentence doesn't turn into correcting everything at once.
