About Matthew

Hi, I’m Matthew, and I help AP Biology and Chemistry students turn a lot of separate facts into ideas they can actually use. These subjects can feel crowded with terminology, processes and calculations. I like to give each lesson a clear question to work towards, so you know what we are trying to understand. Getting the ideas straight We might map the stages of a biological process, look closely at a reaction or discuss what an experiment is testing. I’ll ask you to describe what you think is happening before we add detail. That gives us a chance to catch misunderstandings early and choose an explanation that makes sense to you. There’s no pressure to use perfect terminology on the first attempt; we can build the precision as your understanding develops. Putting it into practice Once an idea is clearer, we use questions to see how well you can apply it. We can practise interpreting figures, justifying conclusions or setting out a calculation. When an answer needs work, I’ll help you identify what is missing and give you time to improve it yourself. If revision has become a long list of things to memorise, send me the topic you’re working on. We can work out which connections need attention first.
